  • Vice President Shettima reported over N300 billion in losses from the #EndBadGovernance protests, primarily affecting private properties and businesses
  • Despite strong evidence against them, President Tinubu released minors involved in the protests, emphasizing compassion and a second chance for youth

Vice President Kashim Shettima revealed that Nigeria suffered over N300 billion in losses due to the #EndBadGovernance protests held nationwide in August.

Speaking at the Presidential Villa in Abuja while welcoming minors released following President Bola Tinubu’s order, Shettima noted that the protests caused extensive damage, primarily to private properties and businesses.

Shettima emphasized that despite solid digital evidence against the minors, President Tinubu released them as an act of compassion.

“In spite of clear video and photographic evidence of their actions—some even posted by the minors themselves—the president, as a father of the nation, chose to give these young people a second chance to contribute positively to Nigeria,” he said.

Addressing the minors, Shettima urged them to avoid future involvement in violence or damage to property. “The protests led to over N300 billion in losses, largely affecting private property and business operations,” he stated.

The Vice President also appealed to governors and public officials to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of the minors. “I encourage our governors and elected representatives to come together beyond political lines,” Shettima said.

“Our unity as citizens of Nigeria is stronger than any differences, and we must work to reintegrate these young people as constructive members of our communities.”
