The incident happened at the Marksino quarry camp in Akamkpa LGA, Cross River State.

Okpabi disclosed that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for zone six, AIG Jonathan Towuru has ordered a manhunt for the armed men who reportedly dressed in military camouflage when they invaded the quarry at about 5:20 pm.

According to Okpabi, the hoodlums gained entrance into the quarry premises following a security breach by a civilian worker at the gate.

He said that the AIG has directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Zonal Criminal Investigation Department to proceed immediately to the scene, while coordinated efforts were in progress to clamp down on the hoodlums, release the victims unhurt and bring perpetrators to justice.

“The AIG commiserates with the slain inspector’s family, relatives and friends.

“He has resolved not to rest on his oars until the victims are released and justice served on those behind the dastardly act,” he stated.
