- Sani advised the Northern governors not to be afraid of any economic reform.
Former Senator Shehu Sani has urged Northerners to embrace economic reforms introduced by the federal government.
Recently, the Northern Governors’ Forum rejected the new Value-Added Tax distribution model in the tax reform bills before the National Assembly.
However, Sani advised the Northern governors “not to be afraid of any economic reform, especially reforms that are pushing it to look inwards and develop and depend on its resources.”
He emphasized that economic reforms can propel the North to greatness, even if it means stepping out of its comfort zone.
Sani noted, “if you study the science of life generally, anyone pushing you to stand on your feet and not to lean on others is pushing you to greatness.”
He encouraged the Northern governors to stand alone and face challenges head-on, as this will foster growth and independence.
Sani stressed that overcoming initial hurdles requires courage, tenacity, and resilience, but ultimately leads to emerging stronger.
He reminded the forum that sometimes, being pushed out of one’s comfort zone can reveal hidden potential and greatness.
Sani described the North as a treasure trove of hidden wealth, waiting to be uncovered by its people.
He concluded, “When you are told that you can, your soul is encouraged. When you are told that you can’t, your spirit is challenged.”
