- APC members in Ondo State caution national chairman Ganduje against destabilizing actions favoring Governor Aiyedatiwa ahead of the November election
- The group “Osun Patriots” opposes Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy, aligning with SDP candidate Akingboye due to dissatisfaction with the APC primary process
Some prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have cautioned the party’s national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, against actions that may destabilize the state in favour of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, APC’s candidate for the upcoming November 16 governorship election.
In a letter dated November 6, 2024, addressed to Ganduje and received in Abuja, APC members operating under the group “Osun Patriots” expressed their opposition to supporting Aiyedatiwa.
The letter, signed by the group’s coordinator, Comrade Dele Oyewo, accuses Ganduje and the National Working Committee (NWC) of failing to address disputes surrounding the primary election that led to Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy.
The group has publicly aligned itself with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Otunba Benson Akingboye, because it is dissatisfied with the APC primary outcome.
The letter further warns, “In an attempt to favour Governor Aiyedatiwa, we hope some individuals do not set Ondo State on fire.
Meanwhile, what may lead to Governor Aiyedatiwa’s removal from office is already underway, even if he is forcefully declared the election winner. We have advised our supporters not to waste their votes.”
They urged the party’s leadership to regard this message as a “clarion call” rather than an attack on the APC. The letter concluded, “We are monitoring developments very closely from all sides. “
