- He said Obi isn’t different from other corrupt politicians, stressing that he’s only better at “packaging.”
Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has explained why he cannot form an alliance with Peter Obi, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate.
Sowore disclosed this during his appearance in a
recent episode of the Honest Bunch Podcast released on Monday.
Sowore said Obi as no different from other corrupt politicians, suggesting he is skilled at presenting himself effectively— “packaging”
Sowore emphasised that he began his presidential campaign long before Obi gained widespread recognition.
“Before you discovered Peter Obi, I was already running for President. All these shouts about Peter Obi… He just knows how to package. Anyone can do it,” he said.
He believed joining forces with Obi would contradict his principles, specifically his refusal to support non-performing leaders who have held prior political offices.
Sowore drew parallels with Atiku, saying, “It’s the same reason I would never have joined hands with Atiku.”
Notably, Obi was Atiku’s vice presidential candidate in 2019, while Sowore ran for president.
Sowore stressed, “There is no lesser evil in my book. If you are evil, you are evil. If you are good, you are good. I have a general disdain for non-performance.”
