Kaduna State Police have arrested five suspected kidnappers, a spiritualist, and a notorious car thief in a coordinated operation aimed at dismantling criminal networks in the region.
In a raid on Kundun Village on November 5, officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit apprehended Umar Haruna, Shuaibu Umar, and Hairatu Muntari. The gang’s leader, Umar Haruna, remains at large. Police also seized eight cows, seven calves, and eight sheep tied to the group’s activities.
The suspects confessed to being involved in multiple kidnappings, including a planned attack in Maraban Yakawada. They admitted using ransom money to purchase maize, which was recovered by police.
In a separate incident, police arrested Isa Sa’adu, 25, for kidnapping a three-year-old girl from Agaji Village. Sa’adu had demanded a two-million-naira ransom. Items recovered from him include 400,000 naira, a motorcycle, a bicycle, and a bag of rice. Sa’adu’s accomplice, a spiritualist identified as Mohammed Sani Usman, was also arrested.
