Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State to rally support for the party’s candidate, Agboola Ajayi, in the upcoming Saturday governorship election.
In a statement released by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku described Ajayi as a dedicated politician capable of leading the PDP to victory and improving the welfare of Ondo’s residents.
Atiku, the PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, also cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other election bodies to prevent electoral malpractice.
He stated, “The upcoming governorship election offers the people of Ondo State an opportunity to enhance the state’s prosperity. The APC, as evident to all, is an unpopular party that does not prioritize the people’s interests.
With Hon. Ajayi as the PDP candidate, Ondo residents can send a strong message to the APC.”
Atiku emphasized that the PDP would resist any actions aimed at undermining the will of the voters, urging election officials and volunteers to uphold integrity in the election process. Additionally, he encouraged Ondo citizens to vote in large numbers and ensure that their votes are counted.
