The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down an illegal wine production facility operating from a residential building in the Lugbe area of Abuja.

The clandestine operation was counterfeiting various imported wine brands, complete with preprinted date markings ready for market distribution.

NAFDAC’s enforcement team, led by Director Pharmacist Mohammed Shaba, legally accessed the property and discovered already-produced wine products and packaging materials.

The suspect was not present during the raid but has been summoned for further questioning.

This action underscores NAFDAC’s commitment to safeguarding public health by combating the production and distribution of counterfeit alcoholic beverages.

The agency urges consumers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious products or activities to their nearest NAFDAC office to help ensure public safety.
