- Acting Managing Director of NRC, Mr Ben Iloanusi, noted that efforts are being made to enhance services across other routes
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has increased its train services on the Abuja-Kaduna route, raising the number of weekday trips from four to six, effective from Monday to Friday.
This expansion aims to meet the rising demand for rail transport on the route.
In a statement released on Wednesday by NRC’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, Yakub Mohmood, the corporation explained that the decision followed a five-month trend analysis.
The analysis revealed a 22 per cent increase in new passengers registering on the ticket platform, highlighting the growing preference for train services due to their comfort, reliability, and safety.
“The NRC has expanded its operations in response to customer demand and to improve satisfaction, while also addressing concerns about ticket racketeering,” the statement said.
Acting Managing Director of NRC, Mr Ben Iloanusi, noted that efforts are being made to enhance services across other routes, including Lagos-Ibadan, Warri-Itakpe, and Port Harcourt-Aba, where similar passenger growth trends have been observed.
NRC encouraged passengers to use its online ticketing platforms and avoid patronising ticket racketeers. Further details on the expanded services can be found on the NRC website.
The increase in train services on the Abuja-Kaduna route comes shortly after a similar expansion of services on the Lagos-Ibadan route.
