The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has declared Friday a public holiday to enable residents participate in the local government election.
The election is set to take place on Saturday across 20 Local Government Areas and 236 wards in the state.
In a statement released on Thursday, Kehinde Onasanya, Head of Service, explained that the holiday will allow voters to travel to their respective LGAs to cast their ballots.
“The Bureau of Service Matters, Office of the Head of Service, has announced that the Ogun state government has approved Friday, November 15, 2024, as a work-free day for civil and public servants,” the statement reads.
“This directive, approved by His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, is intended to give workers the opportunity to travel to their respective local government areas to participate in the local government election scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.”
“This initiative underscores the administration’s dedication to fostering inclusiveness and participatory democracy.”
Onasanya added that permanent secretaries and agency heads are urged to ensure compliance with the directive.
