- On Thursday, INEC commenced the sensitive materials to various local government areas of Ondo State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
- The distribution was carried out at the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State under the watch of party agents, armed policemen, and several commercial buses hired by the Commission.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Ondo voters of a hitch-free governorship election today, Saturday.
Professor Kunle Ajayi, INEC National Commissioner overseeing Ondo, Ogun, and Osun States, made this declaration on Channels Television’s Politics Today in Akure, Ondo State’s capital, on Friday.
Ajayi guaranteed that INEC would not let the people down as they come out en masse to choose a new governor for the Sunshine State’s next four-year term.
“We’ve done our part, and we’re proud of our accomplishments; we won’t disappoint Ondo State’s people,” he stated.
Recall that INEC began distributing sensitive materials to Ondo State’s local government areas on Thursday in preparation for today’s governorship election.
The distribution took place at the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) premises in Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State, under the supervision of party agents, armed police, and commercial buses hired by the Commission.
INEC National Commissioner Ajayi noted that, unlike the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, all registered areas in Ondo State had received their sensitive materials.
“I assure you that everything will go smoothly; as of 3 pm, all Registered Areas (RAs) have received their sensitive materials; the next step is to move to the Polling Unit (PU); I visited some RAs this afternoon,” he added.
