- Many governorship candidates in the state have already cast their votes.
- There’s been notably report of peace and calmness across many polling units in the state.
Abbas Mimiko, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate in the Ondo governorship election, has urged voters to resist the temptation of selling their votes.
While speaking with journalists, Mimiko commended the peaceful atmosphere of the election and acknowledged the professionalism of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“There’s no good governance in Ondo. Besides that, there seems to be peace from the reports reaching us. The law enforcement agencies seem to be living up to their billing,” he said.
Mimiko expressed his confidence in INEC’s ability to conduct a fair election, stating that the president would ensure the commission remains impartial.
“So it’s left for us, the citizens of Ondo state, to decide not to go the ‘see and buy way’ that is happening all over the place.
“Don’t sell your future for N20,000… the future of your children.
“Go and vote for a candidate of your choice that will take you out of this poverty to a place of pride.”
Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Mimiko of the ZLP are the top contenders in the election.
