The Nigerian military has bombed terrorists in Zamfara State who were planning attacks on residents and soldiers in Babban Kauye village, Tsafe Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out by air troops under ‘Operation Farautar Mujiya,’ targeted terrorists loyal to two notorious bandit leaders, Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule.
According to security sources, the terrorists had been plotting assaults on military personnel in the Tsafe area and nearby villages before their plans were intercepted.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) spokesman, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, disclosed that credible intelligence revealed the terrorists assembled for coordinated attacks. Acting swiftly, the air troops launched precision airstrikes, inflicting heavy casualties on the group.
Akinboyewa confirmed that the strikes, executed on Friday, also neutralized key leaders of the terror network. Ground forces later verified the successful elimination of numerous high-ranking operatives, significantly weakening the group’s operational capacity.
“Reports from the field indicate the strikes dealt a severe blow to the bandits’ leadership,” Akinboyewa stated. He further explained that Tsafe Local Government Area has been a hotspot for bandit activities, with groups linked to Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule notorious for violent attacks on communities, security forces, and infrastructure.
The terrorists had been using remote areas like Babban Kauye as safe havens to coordinate their operations. However, the latest airstrikes aim to dismantle these networks and prevent future attacks, bringing stability to the region.
The operation aligns with the broader goals of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, focusing on degrading bandit networks and restoring peace in Zamfara and the North West region. The NAF reiterated its commitment to working with other security agencies to eliminate threats from terrorists and criminals across Nigeria.
Akinboyewa concluded, “Our mission remains to secure the nation and ensure peace for all citizens by eradicating those who endanger its prosperity.”
