- To enhance timely justice delivery, Small Claims Courts have been established across the state’s three senatorial districts
The Adamawa State Government has announced the successful prosecution of 68 criminal cases, with 207 still pending in various courts, as part of its judicial reforms under Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s administration.
Speaking at a quarterly press briefing broadcast live on four national television stations, the Commissioner for Justice, Afraimu Jingi, highlighted significant strides in the judiciary since 2019, including the enactment of 68 laws aimed at protecting human dignity.
Key legislations include the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, 2021, addressing gender-based violence comprehensively, and the Child Protection Law, 2022, designed to safeguard children from abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
“These laws reflect the state’s commitment to protecting the rights of vulnerable groups and fostering social justice,” Jingi said.
To enhance timely justice delivery, Small Claims Courts have been established across the state’s three senatorial districts. These courts focus on resolving commercial disputes within an average of 60 days, boosting economic confidence and creating a business-friendly environment.
Jingi emphasized the administration’s mission to build a justice system that aligns with democratic principles and the rule of law. “Our aim is to ensure justice is accessible, fair, and efficient for all,” he concluded.
