The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully carried out an airstrike that eliminated a terrorist leader and destroyed a weapons depot in Shiroro, Niger State.

According to Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, the operation occurred on November 16 in Palele, Shiroro Local Government Area.

The airstrike targeted the residence of Mallam Saleh, a loyalist of the notorious terrorist leader Dogo Gide.

Saleh had terrorized Shiroro communities for years, orchestrating attacks, kidnappings, and extortion that left residents living in fear. The NAF, gathering critical intelligence, tracked his movements to dismantle his operations effectively.

During the strike, NAF aircraft spotted terrorists on motorcycles near the target area. The precision airstrike not only destroyed the arms depot but also caused a secondary explosion, confirming the complete elimination of Saleh’s munitions.

“This operation is part of our logistics strangulation strategy, aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds and restoring peace to the region,” said Akinboyewa.

The mission significantly weakened the terrorists’ capabilities. NAF promised continued dominance through collaboration with ground forces, regular patrols, and well-targeted operations.
