The Delta State Command of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confirmed the release of its officers who were abducted last Thursday night.

The officers were kidnapped near the agency’s headquarters on Isah-Ogwashi-Uku Road, Aniocha South Local Government Area, by armed assailants who ambushed them around 8:00 pm.

Speaking in Asaba on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, John Kennedy, disclosed that the officers were freed on Sunday night after sustained pressure from the NDLEA and other security agencies.

“I want to confirm the release of our officers. They were released on Sunday night after much pressure from the agency and other sister agencies,” Kennedy said.

He clarified earlier reports, noting that the senior officer and his orderly were not abducted together. “The senior officer was taken, and another officer was abducted at a different location entirely,” he explained.

While commending the collaborative efforts that led to the officers’ release, Kennedy declined to comment on whether ransom was paid.
