Former Aviation Minister and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode, has commended the arrest and detention of Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed leader of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, by Finnish authorities on terrorism-related charges.
Ekpa, a vocal Biafra separatist, was detained for allegedly inciting violence and orchestrating terror-related activities in Nigeria.
Reacting to the development on his official X account, Fani-Kayode described the arrest as a significant step towards justice, accusing Ekpa of causing harm to the South-East region of Nigeria.
“The arrest and detention of Simon Ekpa by the Finnish authorities for terrorism-related charges and inciting terrorism in Nigeria is good news,” Fani-Kayode wrote.
He labelled Ekpa as a “feral psychopath, a hate-filled sociopath, and a man of blood,” further accusing him of enjoying violence and promoting division in Nigeria from the safety of Finland.
“Many innocent Nigerians were killed on his orders and as a consequence of his foul and divisive rhetoric,” he added, expressing hope that the arrest would deter others advocating violence and terror.
Simon Ekpa has been a controversial figure in Nigeria, often accused of inciting unrest in the South-East through his calls for Biafra independence. Finnish authorities have yet to provide additional details on his detention.
