The police command in Ogun has confirmed the death of Sunday Abidoye, whose body was found in a room at Creestar hotel in Sagamu area of the state.

Omolola Odutola, the Command’s spokesperson, released a statement in Abeokuta on Wednesday, revealing that the hotel’s Chief Security Officer, Oluwole, reported the incident to the police.

“On receiving the report, detectives visited the scene and found the body already placed in a car outside the hotel,” Odutola said.

“At that point, the family was preparing to take it to the morgue.”

Odutola stated that the deceased’s brother, Jimoh Godday, informed the police that Sunday Abidoye had arrived in Nigeria from the US on Saturday.

“He said he called his brother on Monday, but when he didn’t get a response, he visited the hotel,” Odutola explained.

“After knocking several times, he requested a spare key and found his brother’s lifeless body.”

The police recovered various drugs and traditional medicine from the room.

“The centre of the bed was soaked with a liquid-like substance,” Odutola added.

A friend of the deceased, Ogunmonti Ogunwole, confirmed that he accompanied Sunday Abidoye to purchase medication the previous day due to his complaints of illness.

The deceased’s remains have been taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue in Sagamu for an autopsy.

No cause of death has been determined yet, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Odutola advised people to avoid using drugs without following proper medical prescriptions.
