- Sowunmi asserted that Tinubu’s appointment of Nyesom Wike Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, created division in the PDP and put the party in disarray.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former spokesman of Atiku Abubakar, Segun Sowunmi, has said the crisis and internal wrangling the party is grappling with are caused by President Bola Tinubu.
Sowunmi asserted that Tinubu’s appointment of Nyesom Wike Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, created division in the PDP and put the party in disarray.
The former spokesman of Atiku, who made the assertion on Wednesday while featuring on Channels TV’s Politics Today, said PDP will only find his bearing again if Tinubu sacked Wike.
He stated Tinubu shouldn’t have appointed Wike into his cabinet without consulting the PDP.
According to Sowunmi: “President Tinubu is the problem of the PDP; he has no business taking Wike from our party and appointing him as Minister without talking to us.
“When Obasanjo wanted to form a government of national unity, he wrote to the elders of the party but what did Tinubu do? He took one of us and put him in a strategic position and suddenly the whole thing is complicated.
“If he wants everything to be okay, sack Wike and return him back to PDP and see if the party will not have stamina and move fast.
“My position is very clear; I’m not speaking Greek; I explained it and justified it.”
