- Speaking after agreeing to the contract extension, the Spaniard voiced his elation on his continued stay at the club
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has revealed why he put pen to paper for contract extension with the Premier League club.
Guardiola’s contract was set to expire in the summer of June 2025, but he has now agreed fresh terms with the champions.
The new contract runs until 2026, with the option for a further year.
Speaking after agreeing to the contract extension, the Spaniard voiced his elation on his continued stay at the club.
He stated that he now has “a special feeling” for City and thanked everyone for believing in him.
“I have a really special feeling for Man City. That is why I am so happy to be staying for another two more seasons,” Guardiola said.
“Thank you to everyone for continuing to trust and support me.
“Hopefully now we can add more trophies to the ones we have already won.”
Guardiola has so far won 18 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League.
