- He criticised the Executive Chairman of Kauru LGA for omitting Kwassam and nearby vulnerable communities in the Kumana Chiefdom from his security reports to the General Officer Commanding, 3rd Division Jos
The Ruruma community in Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, has called on the Federal Government to establish a military base in Kwassam, its headquarters, to address persistent killings and abductions by bandits.
In a statement signed by the community’s National President, Mr. Daniel Dallah, and released on Sunday, the community stressed that a military formation would enhance security, protect lives and property, and facilitate the return of displaced residents to their ancestral homes.
“The military formation in Kwassam will enable displaced communities to return to their ancestral lands, where they have farms and agricultural produce. Currently, our traditional leader, Dauda Abdulsalam, the Pugom Kumana, has not been able to return home for several years due to an assassination attempt by bandits,” Dallah said.
He criticised the Executive Chairman of Kauru LGA for omitting Kwassam and nearby vulnerable communities in the Kumana Chiefdom from his security reports to the General Officer Commanding, 3rd Division Jos.
Dallah highlighted the broader benefits of a military base in Kwassam, stating it would serve neighbouring communities such as Dokan Karji, Sabon Gida Libere, Maikudumi, and others, which currently lack any security presence, including police divisions.
The community pledged its cooperation with the government and security agencies and urged the Federal Government to bolster Governor Uba Sani’s efforts to address the region’s insecurity.
