Cultists kill man on his wedding day in Delta

  • The brutal killings have left the residents of Umusam, Utagba-Uno, and Isumpe communities in shock as apprehension and uncertainty enveloped the enclaves.

A groom-to-be has been gunned down on his wedding day in Delta State following escalation of violence among warring rival cult groups.

Another yet-to-be-identified man was also killed while many other persons were injured during an attack and were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

The incident happened in Kwale, Ndokwa West local government area of the oil-rich state.

According to locals privy to the incident, the lifeless body of the second man was found at Utagba-Uno Junction.

The brutal killings have left the residents of Umusam, Utagba-Uno, and Isumpe communities in shock as apprehension and uncertainty enveloped the enclaves.

However, it is gathered that security personnel have mounted roadblocks across the area to stem further violence and contain the situation

Meanwhile, fiancée of the deceased, family members, and well-wishers were left in deep mourning as what was supposed joyous occasion turned into a heartbreaking tragedy.

An eyewitness, simply called Boy, said the groom-to-be was walking with friends to purchase items for the wedding when he was ambushed and killed by suspected members of a rival cult group.

“The atmosphere in Kwale remains tense, with parents and community members urging heightened caution as the festive season approaches.

“We all need to be vigilant about our movements and interactions to avoid falling victim to such incidents” he stated.

However, The police are yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
