- Two airstrikes carried out in two related operations on November 25, 2024 dealt a devastating blow to terrorists.
- Akinboyewa said the strike neutralised many terrorists and allowed the ground troops to recover over 20 abandoned motorcycles.
The Nigerian Air Force launched two coordinated airstrikes against terrorists in Kukawa, Borno, as part of Operation Hadin Kai.
Olusola Akinboyewa, NAF’s director of public relations and information, disclosed that fighter jets destroyed a gun truck and neutralized several terrorists.
Akinboyewa explained that the first operation was prompted by credible intelligence on a terrorists’ gun truck located approximately 5 kilometers west of Kukawa.
“NAF fighter jets swiftly responded, acquiring and attacking the target with precision, destroying the gun truck and crippling the terrorists’ capacity,” he said.
“In the second operation, the AC OPHK responded to a distress call from ground troops in Kukawa, who were under intense attack by terrorists on motorcycles.
“The NAF air assets rapidly responded, engaging the terrorists at various intervals. The strike neutralized many terrorists, and our ground troops recovered over 20 abandoned motorcycles.”
Ground troops are now capitalizing on the momentum, pursuing wounded and fleeing terrorists.
Akinboyewa reaffirmed NAF’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the country through collaborative efforts.
NAF will continue providing airpower support to ground forces and other security agencies, Akinboyewa added.
