Ogun State Imposes N5m Fine for Fake Mobile Advert Permits

The agency’s General Manager, Fola Onifade, revealed this during the unveiling of the 2025 mobile advert permit in Abeokuta on Wednesday

The Ogun State Signage and Advertising Agency has announced a N5 million fine for anyone caught using fake mobile advert permits in the state.

The agency’s General Manager, Fola Onifade, revealed this during the unveiling of the 2025 mobile advert permit in Abeokuta on Wednesday.

Onifade highlighted that the state has transitioned from printed stickers to e-stickers, following the lead of Oyo and Lagos states. This shift has significantly reduced counterfeiting and other fraudulent activities. He also pointed out that the agency is tackling the issue of out-of-state stickers being sold in Ogun, stressing that cooperation would only be allowed with states that have similar rates.

The agency is committed to cracking down on offenders, with daily and unannounced quarterly enforcement checks. A fine of N100,000 will be imposed for non-compliance, while anyone caught with a fake permit will face a hefty N5 million penalty.

Onifade called for the support and cooperation of the agency’s partners to ensure the success of the 2025 mobile advert permit initiative.
