The Federal Government has selected Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, as one of the institutions to pilot the Technical Teacher Training Programme (TTTP). This initiative aims to equip youths with vocational and technical skills.
Officials from the Federal Ministry of Education revealed the selection during a visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, at the university’s Samaru campus in Zaria.
The TTTP is designed to train individuals to teach vocational skills such as carpentry, mechanical engineering, baking, auto mechanics, and more, to students across various educational levels.
Mrs. Olaniyan Gbemisola, the team leader, explained that the visit included a facility tour and validation exercise to assess the university’s readiness for the programme.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Shehu, the Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, expressed gratitude for choosing ABU as a pilot institution. He assured the delegation of the university’s full commitment to ensuring the programme’s success.
This initiative reflects the Federal Government’s efforts to empower youths with practical skills for employment and self-reliance.
