Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has given his approval for a new minimum wage of N75,554 for state workers.
This announcement was made by the governor on his social media page on Friday, stating that the new wage will be effective from December 1, 2024.
Additionally, Adeleke approved N25,000 for pensioners across the state.
“I am delighted to announce that the new minimum wage of ₦75,554.28 for civil servants in our dear state will take effect from 1st December 2024,” the post reads.
“Osun State pensioners are not left out of the improved welfare package.
“I have also approved an enhanced pension package of twenty-five thousand Naira (₦25,000.00) across the board for all pensioners in the state.”
According to Olalekan Badmus, a special assistant on digital media to the governor, state public servants will receive one month’s arrears.
Badmus stated that the minimum wage implementation was finalized through collaboration between government officials and labour leaders.
President Bola Tinubu signed the minimum wage bill into law in July, increasing the baseline pay from N30,000 to N70,000.
The National Labour Congress (NLC) had set a December 1 deadline for states to implement the new minimum wage.
