The Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) has unveiled Nigeria’s first mobile motor licence centre, featuring a fully digital Motor Licence Office.
Dr. Zaid Abubakar, the Executive Chairman of KIRS, announced the development during the agency’s event at the 45th Kano International Trade Fair on Friday. He highlighted the mobile centre as a key innovation to boost the state’s revenue generation.
“This facility is the first of its kind in Nigeria,” said Abubakar. “It allows vehicle registration anywhere and at any time, making the process easier while reducing unforeseen obstacles.”
The initiative is part of the Kano State Government’s broader commitment to streamline revenue payment systems under Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration.
The centre employs IT-driven solutions to enhance the efficiency of vehicle registration, which is expected to contribute significantly to the state’s Internally Generated Revenue.
Muhammad Aliyu, KIRS Executive Director of Compliance and Enforcement, disclosed that two mobile centres are operational, with plans to expand coverage across the state in the future.
This innovation underscores Kano’s drive towards modernising its revenue collection systems and providing accessible services for its residents.
