- The Nigerian National Petroleum Company clarified that the Port Harcourt Refining Company has not started bulk fuel sales or opened its purchase portal
- NNPCL emphasized that current fuel distributions are from the Dangote Refinery, assuring the public that updates on pricing will follow
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has clarified that the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) has not commenced bulk fuel sales or opened its purchase portal.
Olufemi Soneye, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, made this known in a statement released Friday in Abuja. He assured the public that official announcements would be made once there are changes in product pricing or sales processes.
Soneye also noted that the current products being distributed by the PHRC originated from the Dangote Refinery.
The Port Harcourt refinery, which has a capacity of 60,000 barrels per day (bpd), began trucking petroleum products on Tuesday as part of its rehabilitation efforts.
Despite this development, some petroleum marketers and Nigerians have raised concerns over pricing. The Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) confirmed that no new price template has been introduced. It stated that petrol purchases are still being made based on the existing pricing structure while awaiting updates.
NNPCL’s clarification addresses speculations and ensures transparency in the refinery’s ongoing operations.
