President Bola Tinubu has extended congratulations to Alhassan Yahaya on his election as President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) during the 8th triennial national delegates conference in Owerri on November 27.
He also praised the newly elected executive members and commended the Union for conducting a smooth electoral process.
According to Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu emphasized that Yahaya’s decisive victory demonstrates the confidence NUJ members have in his leadership and vision.
“The overwhelming support for Yahaya reflects the trust that journalists across Nigeria have placed in him to lead the Fourth Estate of the Realm,” he noted.
President Tinubu expressed optimism that Yahaya’s experience, particularly as deputy president of the NUJ, will serve him well in addressing future challenges.
He stressed the importance of the press in fulfilling its constitutional roles with renewed passion and commitment to journalistic ideals in Nigeria.
“Journalism plays a critical role in our democracy and society at large,” Tinubu stated.
“I encourage you to embrace your responsibilities with a sense of patriotism and integrity.”
