Lagos Announces Traffic Diversion on Marine Bridge

Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi said the repairs, led by the Federal Ministry of Works, will focus on rehabilitating sections of the bridge’s asphalt pavement

The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion on the Marine Bridge to allow emergency maintenance work from December 4, 2024, to February 25, 2025.

Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi said the repairs, led by the Federal Ministry of Works, will focus on rehabilitating sections of the bridge’s asphalt pavement.

Motorists travelling from Apapa to Lagos Island are advised to use alternative routes, including the Costain Roundabout to Eko Bridge or the Ijora 7up route via Marine Bridge. Those heading to Ijora Causeway and Iddo can also use these routes.

Osiyemi assured residents that traffic towards Apapa from Costain Roundabout would remain unaffected. He appealed for patience, noting the diversion is part of efforts to minimise disruptions during the repairs.

The government pledged regular updates to ease the impact on commuters.
