The Oyo State Government has increased the 2025 capital budget allocation for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) by over 70%, raising it to ₦877.5 million from ₦492 million, with an overhead cost increase to ₦345 million.
Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by his deputy, Bayo Lawal, announced this during the 2024 International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Ibadan. The funds will support initiatives like transportation empowerment, assistive devices, and training.
Makinde highlighted the recruitment of 510 PwDs into the civil service, directives to protect PwD quotas, and the appointment of Ayodele Adekanmbi as Director-General of the state Agency for PwDs. He also approved grants, subventions, and vehicles for the agency.
“We remain committed to an inclusive government,” Makinde said.
