- Police have assured the public of continued efforts to tackle crime in the FCT
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested two suspects, Emmanuel Linus and Moses Daniel, for impersonating a Nigerian Army officer.
Linus, dressed in full military camouflage, was apprehended on November 30, 2024, around 2:00 p.m., carrying a fake military ID card listing a false date of birth.
Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu revealed the suspects were part of a criminal syndicate that defrauded victims using fake bank alerts to pay for goods and services. A detailed investigation is ongoing to identify other members of the group.
In a related development, Disu announced the impounding of 296 vehicles for violations such as using tinted glasses, driving with a single number plate, and displaying defaced plates. The crackdown follows the launch of the command’s Special Tactical Team.
Additionally, two suspects, Awal Mustaf and David Maji—a dismissed police officer—were arrested for vandalising streetlight poles and stealing cables worth over ₦20 million near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja. Police recovered streetlight poles, large cables, and other stolen items after a five-day surveillance operation.
The suspects are in custody, and investigations are ongoing. Police have assured the public of continued efforts to tackle crime in the FCT.
