The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering impactful projects aimed at accelerating development and improving living standards across the region.
The commission’s Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, made the pledge on Wednesday while receiving a delegation from the Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation Worldwide at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt.
Dr Ogbuku assured the group that the NDDC remains dedicated to serving all ethnic communities in the Niger Delta, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He highlighted the importance of peace in fostering development.
“Development can only thrive in a peaceful environment. I urge you to support President Tinubu’s policies and ensure peace in your communities,” he said.
He also announced plans to roll out solar-powered streetlights across the region as part of efforts to enhance security and improve living conditions.
“We are committed to lighting up the Niger Delta with solar-powered streetlights, providing security and improving the quality of life,” he added.
The President-General of the organisation, Eze (Dr) Godspower Onuekwa, praised the NDDC’s leadership and called for more development projects in Ikwerre land to address local challenges.
“We commend your accomplishments and urge you to extend these development efforts to Ikwerre land,” he said.
