A former permanent secretary in the Niger State Civil Service, Architect Adamu Jagaba, was stabbed to death by his 18-year-old car painter, Fatiyah Abdulhakeem, on Saturday, 7 December 2024.
The incident occurred at Jagaba’s block industry along Eastern Bypass, Minna.
According to the Niger State Police Command, Abdulhakeem trespassed into the premises, attacked Jagaba with multiple stabs to his head and neck, and fled the scene with the victim’s Toyota Camry (registration number MNA 61 AE).
Jagaba was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead. The police were notified of the incident around 3 p.m.
Later that evening, at approximately 7 p.m., officers from the police’s Crack Squad intercepted the stolen vehicle along Bosso Estate Road, Minna, and apprehended Abdulhakeem.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he visited Jagaba under the pretense of discussing a vehicle repair before attacking him. “I deliberately stabbed him several times with a knife on the head and neck and hit him multiple times with a stapler in his office,” Abdulhakeem admitted.
The suspect also revealed that some of Jagaba’s workers had conspired with him, providing information to facilitate the attack. He further disclosed the involvement of other gang members, whose identities he shared with investigators.
The police have assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend all individuals linked to the crime. “We are determined to bring all those involved in this heinous act to justice,” said the Niger State Police Command.
