Gregory Maduakolam, assistant editor-in-chief at NAN, has been released after a two-day abduction ordeal.
NAN reports that Maduakolam shared news of his release with colleagues via phone calls on Saturday.
Maduakolam revealed his freedom came after his family paid an undisclosed ransom.
Narrating his experience, Maduakolam disclosed he was attacked and brutally treated by hoodlums during captivity.
He explained he was seized in Irete, near Owerri, while viewing homes with a friend and agent.
“After inspecting the house, I agreed with the agent on the part payment and other fees I will pay,” he said.
“As I boarded a commercial motorcycle to return to Owerri, five young men emerged, taking me away.”
He also said that the hoodlums confiscated his cellphone and emptied his bank account.
Maduakolam thanked God and all who showed concern, including NAN’s management and staff.
