Akwa Ibom lawyer, niece rescued from kidnappers’ dungeon

The police in Akwa Ibom State say they have rescued a lawyer and his niece from kidnappers.

The victims were rescued by operatives of the state police Command during a raid on the kidnappers hideouts.

The police stormed an underground tunnel in a forest where the victims were held hostage, according to a trending video.

The operatives, acting on a tip-off, closed in on the filthy and decrepit tunnel where the lawyer and his niece were kept and laboriously lifted a slab, which was used to cover and shield their existence from the outside world by their captors, to bring them out of the dungeon.

“Come out all of you, you are saved in Jesus name,” a Police officer’s voice could be heard saying during the rescue operation.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Command, ASP Timfon John, confirmed the development, adding that the victims are undergoing medical examination.

“There was rescue oppression by the Command, which was very successful. The victims are undergoing medical examination,” she said.
