Teenager killed in Kwara fire incident

A catastrophic early morning fire outbreak in Kwara State has claimed the live of a teenage boy.

The incident happened at Sayi area of Alore in Ilorin, the State capital at about 1:30am in the early hours of Monday.

A government official confirmed the incident and the death of the 18-year-old victim to newsmen on Monday.

As of press time, a delegation of the Kwara State Government was about to visit the scene of the fire outbreak for an assessment of the situation.

“Yes, a devastating fire outbreak occurred in the Sayi area of Alore early this morning.

“We learnt it claimed the life of an 18-year-old boy. We (a government delegation) will soon visit the scene of the incident to commiserate with our people,” the top government official said.

Last week, a three-bedroom bungalow in a government housing estates in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, was engulfed by fire.

Fire broke out at the house after a nine-year-old child, who was reportedly playing with matches, set the building ablaze on Thursday.

The bungalow is located at No 52, Mandate 2 Housing Estate in the Ilorin West, Local Government Area of the state.

The fire ravaged the building, completely destroying a bedroom, kitchen and the balcony of the building after the matches ignited a mattress in the compound.
