  • The FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board will refund N61,000 to each of the 2,958 pilgrims for unprovided services during Hajj
  • A dedicated committee will oversee the refund process, requiring pilgrims to present valid identification and appear in person to claim it

The FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (FCT-MPWB) has announced a refund of N61,000 for each pilgrim participating in the 2024 Hajj exercise. The refund, equivalent to 150 Riyals per pilgrim, is for services not provided during the pilgrimage.

The board disclosed that approximately N270 million will be distributed as refunds. A dedicated committee has been set up to oversee the disbursement to ensure a seamless process.

Pilgrims eligible for the refund must present valid identification, including evidence of travel, receipts, and e-passports. They are also required to appear in person to claim the refund.

Director of FCT-MPWB, Mr. Kadari Edah, emphasized that while personal collection is mandatory, exceptions will be made for cases involving death, severe illness, or other valid reasons.

For the upcoming 2025 Hajj exercise, intending pilgrims have been advised to deposit N8.4 million. However, Mr. Edah clarified that this figure is provisional and subject to adjustments.

He noted that recent evaluations by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) suggest that the final cost could be lower than the 2024 rate.
