In Bayelsa State, a young man simply identified as Godwin has allegedly brutally murdered his mother.
The incident, which happened in Elebele Community of Ogbia Local Government Area of the State, has left the enclave in a state of sorrow and apprehension.
The 22-year-old suspect was said to have stabbed his mother to death over for allegedly impeding the fulfilment of his destiny of becoming wealthy and successful.
Locals privy to the incident disclosed that Godwin returned to the area a few weeks ago after months of away in Benin City, Edo State.
Some residents said that the suspect start behaving strangely, claiming that a native doctor had cautioned him that his deceased mother was holding his destiny and wealth.
The Youth President of Elebele Community, Precious Okala, confirmed the incident.
According to him, upon arriving at the scene, they found the bloody corpse of the deceased, while the youths of the community apprehended the killer son.
“We were told that since the boy came back from Benin City, Edo State, he had been behaving strangely. On the fateful day, he was reported to have had a struggle with his mother and stabbed her in the stomach with a knife.
“The boy was heard saying that a ‘Baba’ had told him that his mother was in possession of his destiny and wealth,” Okala said.
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Musa Mohammed, stated that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a detailed investigation
