Police Arrest Lecturer for Alleged Role in Colleague’s Wife’s Kidnap in Benue

Reports indicate that Mrs. Susan was ambushed and kidnapped last Saturday along Otukpo Road, Makurdi

Dr. Ichor Tersagh, a lecturer at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi (JOSTUM), has been arrested by the police for allegedly orchestrating the abduction of Mrs. Susan Anyagh, the wife of Paul Anyagh, chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), JOSTUM chapter.

Reports indicate that Mrs. Susan was ambushed and kidnapped last Saturday along Otukpo Road, Makurdi.

Her abductors allegedly stole N1.3 million from her car, beat her into a coma, and abandoned her on a bush path.

Catherine Anene, spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, disclosing that Mrs. Susan was later found along Yandev-Ugbema Road. She was rushed to the Primary Healthcare Clinic in Ameladu for treatment.

According to the police statement, Mrs. Susan recounted that she had stopped to help individuals who appeared to be in need on Otukpo Road. They quickly entered her car, pointed a gun at her, and ordered her to drive toward the Wurukum area.

She revealed that while driving, she spotted Dr. Tersagh standing near her car and called for his help. However, he allegedly turned away and walked off.

The abductors later received a call from Dr. Tersagh, reportedly instructing them to kill her. Panicking, the kidnappers decided to avoid a nearby police checkpoint, reversing to a secluded area. They took N1.35 million from her car, used a car jack to strike the back of her neck, and left her unconscious.

The police have arrested Dr. Tersagh in connection with the case, and investigations are ongoing.
