The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has discovered a secret warehouse in Rivers State used for storing illicitly refined petroleum products.

Commandant Joachim Okafor revealed that the illicit storage facility, situated in Elelewo community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, housed large tanks and cans filled with contraband petroleum products.

Okafor, who spearheaded the operation, attributed the discovery to the Command’s Anti-Vandal Unit, which utilized cutting-edge technology to track illegal crude oil theft.

According to Okafor, the activities of crude oil thieves not only harm the nation’s economy but also pose severe environmental and health risks to the population.
