The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has reiterated its commitment to enhancing tax collection and enforcement through strategic partnerships with security agencies.
This was emphasized during a security briefing held over the weekend in Abuja, involving senior FIRS officials and representatives from various law enforcement agencies.
Gregory Wilfred Asuquo, Director of Security, Safety, and Fleet Management at FIRS, highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving the agency’s ambitious revenue targets.
“We’ve come to understand that we cannot achieve our goals alone. Collaboration with stakeholders, including security agencies, is essential. Taxation is a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economy, and fulfilling our mandate requires collective effort,” he stated.
Garba Muazu, Acting Director of the Tax Investigation and Enforcement Department, further elaborated on the legal framework supporting these collaborations.
“The FIRS Establishment Act mandates partnerships with law enforcement agencies for resource mobilisation and information sharing. Such alliances are critical to national progress,” Muazu explained.
