The Sokoto State Government has rolled out an e-ticketing system for its mass transit vehicles to improve efficiency and accountability.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu witnessed a demonstration of the new system, simplifying passenger ticket purchases. The e-ticketing platform allows passengers to buy tickets quickly and without hassle.
The governor explained that this initiative is part of his administration’s efforts to enhance transparency and adopt a cashless approach to public services.
“This system promotes a cashless economy and ensures that all transportation fares are deposited directly into government accounts,” he stated.
Governor Aliyu highlighted that the system guarantees value for the funds spent on the 126 vehicles already deployed for interstate, intracity, and inter-local government services. He expressed optimism that the initiative would significantly curb financial mismanagement.
The e-ticketing system will also help the government monitor its vehicles and ensure they remain roadworthy. Aliyu emphasized the importance of enhancing the ticketing process and pledged full support for the program’s implementation.
The governor also noted that the initiative would boost job creation and increase the state’s revenue once fully operational.
This development marks a significant step toward modernizing Sokoto’s transportation sector and strengthening financial oversight.
