- Falana urged the police authorities to release Vincent and investigate his alleged dehumanisation in police custody
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has called for the immediate release of Assistant Superintendent of Police Makinde Vincent, who has been detained at Asokoro Police Station in Abuja since November 11.
According to Falana, Vincent, a serving police officer at the FED OPS Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja, has been leg-chained in custody for an undisclosed offence. Falana condemned the treatment of Vincent, saying his detention and chaining are a clear violation of his human rights.
Falana urged the police authorities to release Vincent and investigate his alleged dehumanisation in police custody. The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, could not be reached for comment on the matter.
This is not the first time Falana has spoken out against perceived injustices. Recently, he condemned the arrest of human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi over alleged criminal libel.
