The minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has expressed optimism that Abia State governor Alex Otti will return to the fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that Otti left the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, for APC in 2020 but later moved to Labour Party in the build up to the 2023 election where he clinched the party’s gubernatorial ticket in Abia and went on to win the election.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Abia International Airport, Keyamo described Otti as a prodigal son who ‘strayed’ away away the APC.
“Today is not the day for politics, he strayed away, he was with us, he strayed away like the prodigal son, ” He said.
He also disclosed that President Bola Tinubu’s decision to locate the airport in Nsulu stems from his love for Otti.
“The President’s motivation was also the fact that he loves the governor of this state, he loves his spirit. I know the comments he has made about the governor of this state and how much people here loves him so much.”
The groundbreaking ceremony for the airport comes after natives of Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North Area of Abia State staged a protest on December 1 over the use of communal land by the government for the proposed project
