  • The President made the assertion during the presentation of the 2025 budget at the National Assembly on Wednesday.

President Bola Tinubu has asserted that members of the National Assembly will retain their seats in the next general election.

The President made the assertion during the presentation of the 2025 budget at the National Assembly on Wednesday.

He declared the lawmakers “all re-elected” after mistakenly referring to the 10th Senate as the 11th.

He made the joke after he was corrected by some of the legislators.

“In fulfilment of one of my constitutional duties and with an unyielding commitment to rebuilding Nigeria towards ensuring that we remain steadfast on a journey to a prosperous future, I hereby present the 2025 budget to the joint session of the 11th National Assembly,” Tinubu stated.

After being reminded by lawmakers that they were indeed the 10th National Assembly, the President responded with a laugh, “10th? I wrote 11th, which means you’re all re-elected.”

This comes after some lawmakers had interrupted the joint session by singing Tinubu’s anthem, “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand”.
