A woman in Katsina State, Malama Abdulkadir-Yanmama, has been rewarded with N500,000 for her honesty after returning N748,320 mistakenly paid into her bank account.
The funds were meant for the Federal Government’s Home Grown School feeding programme in the state.
According to Dr Mudassir Nasir, Executive Director of the Katsina State Social Investment Programme Agency, Abdulkadir-Yanmama received an alert for the payment, but upon realizing she was not a vendor for the programme, she decided to return the money.
The state government, led by Governor Dikko Radda, appreciated Abdulkadir-Yanmama’s honesty with a reward of N500,000, a commendation letter, and an offer to participate in the next school feeding programme.
The state’s Auditor-General, Alhaji Anas Tukur-Abdulƙadir, also commended Abdulkadir-Yanmama, saying she deserved more honours. Abdulkadir-Yanmama expressed her gratitude to the governor and the KASIPA management for the support and encouragement given to her.
