The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has launched a three-day training workshop for journalists and civil society organizations (CSOs).
The workshop focuses on using non-kinetic strategies to tackle insurgency and terrorism in the North-East region and the country.
During the opening session in Maiduguri, NEDC Managing Director Muhammad Alkali highlighted the commission’s commitment to addressing the root causes of conflict.
He said this is achieved through the North-East Stabilisation and Development Master Plan.
Alkali explained that the training aims to equip participants with essential peace-building skills and reshape negative narratives in the conflict-hit region.
He emphasized the importance of these efforts in driving sustainable development.
He also called for stronger collaboration between the media, CSOs, and the NEDC to maintain ongoing rebuilding efforts and encourage peaceful coexistence.
The initiative underscores the NEDC’s dedication to fostering lasting peace and development in the North-East.
