The Ekiti State Government has dismissed claims that Governor Biodun Oyebanji is distributing a N25,000 Christmas cash grant, describing the information as false and cautioning residents against falling victim to fraud.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, labelled the circulating message as baseless.
“This is to inform the general public that the information circulating regarding a ₦25,000 Christmas cash grant from the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, is false and should be disregarded,” the statement read.
Oyebode clarified that the governor does not authorise cash grants or distributions via unofficial channels or online platforms.
The government advised residents to remain vigilant and avoid sharing personal information with unauthorised individuals or websites.
“We urge the people of the state to remain vigilant and not to provide personal information to unauthorised websites or individuals who are out to defraud them,” the statement added.
Residents were encouraged to rely on official communication channels for updates.
“All official communication from the Ekiti State Government is disseminated through official channels and designated state officials,” Oyebode emphasised.
The government reiterated its commitment to transparency and urged the public to verify information before acting on it.
