- The Standards Organisation of Nigeria cautioned manufacturers to ensure compliance with Nigerian Industrial Standards to avoid certification revocation
- SON emphasized that MANCAP certification guarantees product quality and consumer safety, urging companies to maintain high standards consistently
The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has cautioned manufacturers to ensure their products meet the Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS) or risk revoking their certifications.
Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, Director-General of SON, issued the warning during the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Program (MANCAP) certification ceremony for 52 companies held in Kano.
Speaking through Dr. Ado Ibrahim, the State Coordinator of SON Kano Office II, Dr. Okeke emphasized the significance of MANCAP certification:
“MANCAP certification is more than just a badge of honor; it serves as a consumer guarantee that products have undergone rigorous testing and evaluation. It reflects an organization’s capacity to produce high-quality goods that meet customer expectations consistently.”
He lauded the certified companies for their commitment to quality and urged them to sustain their efforts:
“This recognition mirrors your dedication to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. Your adherence to standards bolsters your company’s reputation and contributes to Nigeria’s economic growth and development. We encourage you to persist in your pursuit of excellence.”
The Director-General reiterated SON’s commitment to supporting manufacturers through its programs and initiatives.
Compliance or Revocation
SON also emphasized that maintaining standards is crucial. The Kano Office I Coordinator, Roger John, warned certified companies against complacency, stating:
“Adherence to standards is non-negotiable. Any deviation will lead to the withdrawal of your certificates.”
The MANCAP certification is a critical benchmark in ensuring product quality and consumer safety across various industries in Nigeria.
SON continues to advocate for compliance to enhance the nation’s industrial growth and global competitiveness.
